As an automotive-related manufacturer, Toyota Industries is aiming to achieve the goal of "zero traffic accidents". Based on the concept of "promoting traffic safety activities as a positive example to society", we actively put effort into providing traffic safety- related educational programs and cooperating with community in traffic safety activities.
The "Toyota Industries' Central Traffic Safety Committee" sets the "safety action
policy" and then spread it out within all workplaces through each plant's Traffic
Safety Committee.
Monthly meetings, attended primarily by the members of the traffic safety promotion
committees, are held at each workplace in order to plan how to prevent traffic
accidents and thoroughly enforce traffic manners. Educational activities are
carried out to notify each workplace of the activity policies, decide on a workplace
safety theme, collect individual's safe driving pledges, and make everyone aware
of dangers by using examples of actual accidents.
In addition, these educational activities are being further enhanced through training for new employees and lectures given by the local police department.
Furthermore, we cooperate with other Toyota Group companies, local communities, and local governments to carry out the "Yellow Stop Campaign" during the period of the national traffic safety campaign. Our employees station themselves on the streets to make patrols and calls for greater traffic safety awareness. This activity is carried out on Zero Traffic Fatalities Day and all employees participate. In FY 2010 a total of 12000 employees participated in this activity.
