Toyota Industries has been actively promoting greening activities both within and outside the premises of the plants in addition to carrying out various activities to prevent environmental pollution.
These activities have been highly praised and we received a special award at the Plant Greening Contest held by Aichi Prefecture. Some of our activities are presented here.
The camphor tree is a symbol of the Company. About 400 camphor trees and an assortment of 2000 high and medium-high trees of 70 species, including Zelkovas, have been planted in groups around the Takahama Plant, making it a veritable “green” plant.
Verdant parks have been provided at the north and south ends of the plant and opened to the local community of the area. These parks are being used by the community as places for relaxation and refreshment.
The park at the north has a “ground golf” course while the park at the south end of the plant has a “walking route” for the benefit of the local citizens and the senior citizens at the nursing home adjacent to the park. Thanks to such activities, we received a special award (Aichi Prefecture Governor's Award) at the 15th Aichi Prefecture Plant Greening Contest.
An atrium with abundant greenery, water, and natural light is being built for the benefit of employees within the Hekinan Plant.
Efforts are being made to greenify the entire plant by building walking routes surrounded by flowers in the parks around the plant. Water used in the plant is treated at the water treatment plant and re-used to water plants in these parks.
The Hekinan Plant received the Chubu Regional Bureau of International Trade and Industry Director's Award at the Plant Greening Competition as the “plant most friendly to people and the environment.”
