Giving Priority to the Purchase of Parts and Materials that Have a Low Environmental Impact

Environmentally Preferable Purchasing refers to purchasing that gives priority to materials and parts that have as little impact as possible on the environment.
Toyota Industries is committed to creating a positive partnership with its suppliers as a means of promoting environmentally preferable purchasing.

The criteria for conventional purchasing were "quality," "price," and "ability to deliver on time." Now, "the environment" has been added to these.
At Toyota Industries, Environmentally Preferable Purchasing means purchasing environmentally friendly materials and parts from environmentally friendly suppliers. Our evaluation is based on three aspects: the establishment of environmental management systems, environmentally-friendly products and environmentally-friendly production processes. The standards for evaluation have been compiled into the "Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Guidelines" and distributed to our suppliers.
